Aaron had already told them, "O my people! You are only being tested by this. Your Lord is the All Merciful, so follow me and obey my command." 90 'We will not cease,' they said, 'to cleave to it, until Moses returns to us.') 91 Then Moses asked Aaron, "What made you not follow me when you saw them in error? 92 "That you followed me not (according to my advice to you)? Have you then disobeyed my order?" 93 [Aaron] said, "O son of my mother, do not seize [me] by my beard or by my head. Indeed, I feared that you would say, 'You caused division among the Children of Israel, and you did not observe [or await] my word.' " 94 Moses said, "What was the matter with you, Samiri?" 95 He said: I saw (Jibreel) what they did not see, so I took a handful (of the dust) from the footsteps of the messenger, then I threw it in the casting; thus did my soul commend to me 96 He said: Begone then, surely for you it will be in this life to say, Touch (me) not; and surely there is a threat for you, which shall not be made to fail to you, and look at your god to whose worship you kept (so long); we will certainly burn it, then we will certainly scatter it a (wide) scattering in the sea. 97 But the god of you all is the One Allah: there is no god but He: all things He comprehends in His knowledge. 98 And so We narrate to you the stories of the past, and We have given you a remembrance from Us. 99 Whoever turns away from it, will bear a burden on the Day of Resurrection. 100 which they shall bear forever. It will be a grievous burden for them on the Day of Judgement, 101 The Day whereon the trumpet will be blown into, and We shall gather the culprits on that Day blear-eyed, 102 In whispers will they speak to each other (saying): "You stayed not longer than ten (days)." 103 We know well what they will say to one another: We also know that even the most cautious in his estimate will say: "You lived in the world no more than a day." 104
