Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the dipersing winds that disperse. 1 Then by oath of those which carry the burdens. 2 and those that speed along with gentle ease, 3 and those that apportion [the gift of life] at [God's] behest! 4 Verily, that which you are promised (i.e. Resurrection in the Hereafter and receiving the reward or punishment of good or bad deeds, etc.) is surely true. 5 and the recompense shall surely happen. 6 By the Sky with (its) numerous Paths, 7 Lo! ye, forsooth, are of various opinion (concerning the truth). 8 Turned aside therefrom is who is turned aside. 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 who flounder in the depths of ignorance. 11 They ask, "When is the Day of Recompense?" 12 It will be the Day whereon in the Fire they will be burned 13 [And will be told], "Taste your torment. This is that for which you were impatient." 14 Verily the God-fearing will be amid Gardens and water-springs. 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord has given them. Verily, they were before this Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 16 They used to sleep only a little during the night. 17 And used to seek forgiveness before dawn. 18 And the beggar and the destitute had a share in their wealth. 19 On the earth, and in yourselves, 20 And in your own souls (too); will you not then see? 21 And in heaven is [the source of] your sustenance [on earth] and [of] all that you are promised [for your life after death]: 22 So, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, this is certainly true, as true as the fact of your speaking. 23
