The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 when earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
