The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Who will be honoured 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 facing one another. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 and clustered bananas, 29 And shade extended 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
