The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 And by oath of the day when it shines 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 That your endeavour is for different ends. 4 As for him who gives and is godfearing 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. 13 I have warned you then about a raging Fire: 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it, 17 And gives of his wealth that he may grow in virtue, 18 not as payment for any favours that he received, 19 acting only for the sake of his Lord the Most High -- 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
