And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 "And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me." 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 "When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation." 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
