Al-Najm 3 of 3
Have you seen the one who turned away 33 who at first gave a little, then later held back? 34 Or, does he possess knowledge of the Unseen, and can therefore see? 35 Or is he not informed with what is in the Pages (Scripture) of Musa (Moses), 36 And of Ibrahim (Abraham) who fulfilled (or conveyed) all that (what Allah ordered him to do or convey), 37 That no burdened soul bears another soul’s burden? 38 And that man will not obtain anything except what he strove for? 39 And that his effort will soon be scrutinised? 40 and will be fully recompensed for his deeds. 41 And that to your Lord is your returning; 42 and that it is He alone who causes [you] to laugh and to weep; 43 and that He it is Who causes death and grants life, 44 And that it is He Who has created the two pairs, male and female? 45 From a drop (of seed) when it is poured forth; 46 That He hath promised a Second Creation (Raising of the Dead); 47 And that it is He (Allah) Who gives much or a little (or gives wealth and contentment), 48 And that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius 49 And that He destroyed the former (tribe of) A'ad, 50 And Thamud - and He did not spare [them] - 51 And the people of Nuh before; surely they were most unjust and inordinate; 52 It is He who turned upside down the people of Lot 53 and covered them with torment. 54 About which, then, of thy Sustainer's powers canst thou [still] remain in doubt? 55 This is a (Prophet) like that of the ancient warners (Prophets). 56 that [Last Hour] which is so near draws ever nearer, 57 None, except Allah, can avert it. 58 Do you then wonder at this recital (the Quran)? 59 And laugh and not weep, 60 While ye amuse yourselves? 61 Prostrate yourselves before God, and worship Him alone! ۩ 62

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
