The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
