And verily Yunus was of the sent ones. 139 When he ran away to a ship completely laden, 140 And then they cast lots and he was the one who lost, 141 The fish then swallowed him and he blamed himself. (For not waiting for Allah’s command.) 142 And had he not been of those who exalt Allah, 143 he would certainly have remained inside the fish until the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ So We cast him, sick, on a barren shore, 145 And We made a gourd tree grow over him. 146 We sent him to a hundred thousand men or more, 147 And they believed, therefor We gave them comfort for a while. 148 Now ask them if their Lord has daughters, and they sons? 149 Or did We make the angels females, and they witnessed it? 150 Now surely it is of their own lie that they say: 151 'God has begotten a son.' They are certainly liars. 152 Does He prefer sons to daughters? 153 What is [wrong] with you? How do you make judgement? 154 Will you not, then, bethink yourselves? 155 Or, do you have a clear authority? 156 Then produce your writ, if ye are truthful. 157 And they have appointed a relationship between Him and the jinns; and indeed the jinns surely know that they will be brought forth. 158 Glory to Allah! (He is free) from the things they ascribe (to Him)! 159 except the servants of God, sincere and devoted. 160 neither you nor what you worship 161 Ye cannot excite (anyone) against Him. 162 Except such as are (themselves) going to the blazing Fire! 163 "There is not one of us who does not have his appointed place," (declare the angels.) 164 And most surely we are they who draw themselves out in ranks, 165 “And indeed we are those who say His purity.” 166 And there were those who said, 167 "If we had a message from [those of] the former peoples, 168 then were we God's sincere servants.' 169 But they disbelieved in it, so they are going to know. 170 And, verily, Our Word has gone forth of old for Our slaves, the Messengers, 171 will certainly be victorious 172 and that, verily, Our hosts - they indeed - would [in the end] be victorious! 173 So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) awhile, 174 And see them thou; they themselves shall presently see. 175 Do they seek to hasten on Our Torment? 176 But then, once it alights upon them, hapless will be the awakening of those who were warned [to no avail]! 177 Hence, turn thou aside for a while from them, 178 And watch (how they fare) and they soon shall see (how thou farest)! 179 Glorified be thy Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they attribute (unto Him) 180 Peace be with the Messengers (of God). 181 And all praise is due to God alone, the Sustainer of all the worlds! 182
