The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 About which they differ? 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And dense gardens. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
