The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 So where are you going? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
