When the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: Lo! ye are folk unknown (to me). 62 They said: "Nay, we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting. 63 "We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth. 64 So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded." 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the root of those (sinners) was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 And the people of the town came rejoicing. 67 [Lot] said, "Indeed, these are my guests, so do not shame me. 68 Fear God and do not shame me." 69 They said: Have we not forbidden you from (other) people? 70 He said: These are my daughters, if you will do (aught). 71 By your life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement. 72 and thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at sunrise. 73 and turned the land upside down, and rained down stones of baked clay. 74 Surely in that are signs for such as mark; 75 And lo! it is upon a road still uneffaced. 76 Behold! in this is a sign for those who believed. 77 And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers. 78 and We took vengeance on them. The two of them were upon a roadway manifest. 79

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
