And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations. 84 and place me among those who shall inherit the garden of bliss! 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 Nor a true friend; 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
