[AND] the people of Lot gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 160 When their fellowman Lut said to them, “Do you not fear?” 161 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 162 so fear God and obey me. 163 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 164 "Go you in unto the males of the 'Alamin (mankind), 165 “And leave the wives your Lord has created for you? In fact you are people who exceed the limits.” 166 They said: "O Lot! If you do not desist, you will be one of those expelled (from our towns)." 167 He said: verily I am of those who abhor your work. 168 My Lord! Save me and my household from what they do. 169 We therefore rescued him and his entire family. 170 Except one old woman, who stayed behind. 171 Then afterward We destroyed the others. 172 and We poured a rain [of destruction] down upon them -- and how evil was the rain which fell on those who were forewarned. 173 Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 174 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 175
