Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 And by oath of the soul that reproaches itself. 2 Does man think that We will not assemble his bones? 3 Surely We are able to reform even his finger-tips. 4 Yet man wants to deny what is ahead of him: 5 asking [derisively,] "When is that Resurrection Day to be?" 6 So when the sight becomes dazed, 7 And the moon will be eclipsed, 8 and the sun and the moon are brought together 9 Man shall say on that day: Whither to fly to? 10 Certainly not! There will be no place of refuge. 11 To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence. 12 On that Day will man be apprised of his deeds, both the earlier and the later. 13 Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin, hands, legs, etc.) will speak about his deeds]. 14 Even if he presents his excuses. 15 Move not thy tongue concerning the (Qur'an) to make haste therewith. 16 Ours it is to gather it, and to recite it. 17 And when We have recited it to you [O Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)], then follow you its (the Quran's) recital. 18 Then upon Us is its clarification [to you]. 19 Nay, but ye do love the fleeting Now 20 And neglect the hereafter. 21 On that day, some faces will shine with freshness. 22 Looking toward their Lord. 23 and upon that day faces shall be scowling, 24 so they might think the Calamity had been inflicted upon them. 25 But when [man's soul] reaches the throat, 26 And there will be a cry, "Who is a magician (to restore him)?" 27 (the angels of mercy or the angels of wrath,)" then, he will realize that it is time to leave this world. 28 And affliction is combined with affliction; 29 unto thy Lord that Day is the drive. 30
