He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 to him thou attendest 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 you ignore him. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 On honourable pages. 13 exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 and covered by darkness. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
