The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 Those who deny the Day of Justice. 11 Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 a written record, 20 which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 upon couches gazing; 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 The seal thereof will be of musk. And to this end let the aspirers aspire 26 It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim. 27 The spring from which drink the ones close to Allah. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 though they were not sent to be their keepers -- 33 On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers 34 Regarding them from their cushioned seats. 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
