The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O YOU ENFOLDED in your mantle (of reform), 1 Arise, and warn, 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 purify your garments; 4 And all abomination shun! 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave Me alone, (to deal) with the (creature) whom I created (bare and) alone!- 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 And children to be by his side! 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 Yet he desires that I should give more. 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 Verily, he thought and plotted; 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 Then he looked, 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 Then he turned back and was haughty; 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 And what do you know what Hell is? 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 Burning the skins! 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
