The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
