The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
