The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the heaven and the night-comer 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 Consider the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
