(Remember) Noah, when he cried (to Us) aforetime: We listened to his (prayer) and delivered him and his family from great distress. 76 And We saved him from the people who denied Our signs. Indeed, they were a people of evil, so We drowned them, all together. 77 And David and Solomon -- when they gave judgment concerning the tillage, when the sheep of the people strayed there, and We bore witness to their judgment; 78 and We made Solomon to understand it, and unto each gave We judgment and knowledge. And with David We subjected the mountains to give glory, and the birds, and We were doers. 79 We taught him the art of making coats of mail so that you could protect yourselves during a war. Will you then give thanks? 80 (It was Our power that made) the violent (unruly) wind flow (tamely) for Solomon, to his order, to the land which We had blessed: for We do know all things. 81 And of the rebellious people there were those who dived for him and did other work besides that, and We kept guard over them; 82 ۞ Remember Job when he called on his Lord saying, "I have been afflicted with great distress: but You are the most merciful of the merciful." 83 Then We heard his prayer and removed that adversity from which he suffered, and We gave him his household (that he had lost) and the like thereof along with them, a mercy from Our store, and a remembrance for the worshippers; 84 Remember Ishmael and Idris and Dhul Kifl: they were all patient and steadfast. 85 And We admitted them into Our mercy, for they were of the righteous. 86 And (remember) Dhu'n-Noon (Jonah of the fish), when he went away in anger and imagined We will not test him (with distress). Then he called out from the darkness: "There is no god other than You. All glory to You; surely I was a sinner. 87 And so We responded unto him and delivered him from [his] distress: for thus do We deliver all who have faith. 88 Zachariah prayed, "Lord, do not leave me alone without offspring, although you are the best heir". 89 So We answered him, and gave him John, curing his wife (of sterility). They raced with each other in good works and called on Us out of yearning and awe, and they were humble to Us. 90 And she who was chaste, therefor We breathed into her (something) of Our Spirit and made her and her son a token for (all) peoples. 91 Lo! this, your religion, is one religion, and I am your Lord, so worship Me. 92 But they divided themselves into factions, but to Us they shall all return. 93
