O you apostles, eat things that are clean, and do things that are good. We are surely cognisant of what you do. 51 And indeed this, your religion, is one religion, and I am your Lord, so fear Me." 52 Yet they divided themselves into factions, each rejoicing in what they had. 53 Wherefore leave thou them in their bewilderment for a season. 54 Do they think that by increasing their wealth and children 55 We [but want to] make them vie with one another in doing [what they consider] good works? Nay, but they do not perceive [their error]! 56 Verily, [only] they who stand in reverent awe of their Sustainer, 57 and those who believe in the signs of their Lord 58 who consider nothing equal to their Lord, 59 and those who give to others what has been bestowed upon them with their hearts trembling at the thought that they must return to their Lord; 60 it is they who vie with one another in doing good works and shall be the foremost in doing so. 61 We do not impose on any soul what is beyond its capacity. We have the Book which speaks the truth and no injustice will be done to it. 62 Nay, their hearts are in overwhelming ignorance with respect to it and they have besides this other deeds which they do. 63 until - after We shall have taken to task, through suffering, those from among them who [now] are lost in the pursuit of pleasures - they cry out in [belated] supplication. 64 "Put a stop to your groaning now! Surely no help shall be provided to you from Us. 65 My signs were recited to you, but upon your heels you withdrew, 66 waxing proud against it, talking foolish talk by night.' 67 Then have they not reflected over the Qur'an, or has there come to them that which had not come to their forefathers? 68 Or is it that they did not recognise their Noble Messenger, therefore they consider him alien? 69 Or say they: "There is madness in him?" Nay, but he brought them the truth [i.e. "(A) Tauhid: Worshipping Allah Alone in all aspects (B) The Quran (C) The religion of Islam,"] but most of them (the disbelievers) are averse to the truth. 70 And had the Truth followed their desires, then indeed the heavens and the earth and all those who are in them would be destroyed; in fact We brought to them a thing in which lay their repute, so they are turned away from their own repute. 71 Or, is it that thou askest of them any maintenance? The maintenance of thy Lord is better, and He is the Best of providers. 72 Assuredly thou art calling them to a straight path; 73 And verily, those who believe not in the Hereafter are indeed deviating far astray from the Path (true religion Islamic Monotheism). 74 ۞ And even if We gave them mercy and removed what was upon them of affliction, they would persist in their transgression, wandering blindly. 75 (They are such) that We seized them with chastisement (and yet) they did not humble themselves before their Lord, nor do they entreat 76 Until when We open upon them a door of severe chastisement, lo! they are in despair at it. 77
