The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 and extended shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those of the right hand. 38
