And verily Yunus was of the sent ones. 139 He abandoned his people 140 And then they cast lots and he was the one who lost, 141 Then the big Fish did swallow him, and he had done acts worthy of blame. 142 And had he not been one of those who glorify (Allah) 143 he would certainly have remained inside the fish until the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ So We cast him, sick, on a barren shore, 145 and caused a creeping plant to grow over him [out of the barren soil]. 146 We sent him as a messenger to a hundred thousand people or more, 147 And they believed, so We gave them enjoyment [of life] for a time. 148 AND NOW ask them to enlighten thee: Has thy Sustainer daughters, whereas they would have [only] sons? 149 Or did We create the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 Lo! verily it is of their falsehood that they say: 151 Allah has begotten; and most surely they are liars. 152 Has He (then) chosen daughters rather than sons? 153 What is amiss with you and your judgment? 154 Will you not then reflect? 155 Or have ye a clear warrant? 156 Then produce your scripture, if you should be truthful. 157 They assert kinship between Him and the angels. But the angels know that they (the liars) will be arraigned (in Hell). 158 Hallowed be Allah from that which they ascribe to Him. 159 but not so the true servants of God, 160 You and whatever you worship 161 Cannot lead astray [turn away from Him (Allah) anyone of the believers], 162 Except those who are predestined to burn in Hell! 163 None of us is there, but has a known station; 164 And indeed, we are those who line up [for prayer]. 165 And indeed, we are those who exalt Allah." 166 And indeed the disbelievers used to say, – 167 "If we had a message from [those of] the former peoples, 168 we would surely have been God's chosen servants," 169 Yet they disbelieve therein. Presently they shall come to know. 170 And surely Our word has gone forth respecting Our servants, the messengers: 171 that they shall certainly be succoured, 172 And surely, only Our army will be victorious. 173 So you ignore them for a time 174 See them and soon they shall see. 175 Do they wish (indeed) to hurry on our Punishment? 176 When it comes down on their plains, it will be an evil dawn for those who had been warned. 177 So turn thou from them for a while, 178 and see, soon they shall see! 179 Your Lord, the Lord of Honor, is too exalted to be considered as they describe Him. 180 And peace upon the messengers. 181 and all praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Universe. 182
