The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 And your clothing purify 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 and for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 For when the trumpet is sounded, 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 and who still desires more. 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 He planned and plotted. 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 He looked (at others); 21 Then he frowned and he scowled; 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). 30 We have appointed none but angels as the keepers of the Fire, and We have not made their number but as a trial for the unbelievers so that those who have been endowed with the Book will be convinced and the believers' faith will increase, and neither those who have been endowed with the Book nor the believers will fall into any doubt. As for those in whose hearts there is a sickness as well as the unbelievers, they will say: “What did Allah aim at by this strange parable?” Thus does Allah let whomsoever He pleases to go astray, and directs whomsoever He pleases to the Right Way. And none knows the hosts of your Lord but He. (And Hell has only been mentioned here) that people may take heed. 31
