The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 by the night swarming, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Where then will you go? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
