Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In a high Garden. 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And goblets set at hand 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
