Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Ha. Mim. 1 A revelation from the Beneficent, the Merciful, 2 A Book whereof the verses are detailed; an Arabic Qur'an, for a people who know. 3 good tidings to bear, and warning, but most of them have turned away, and do not give ear. 4 And they say, “Our hearts are covered against the affair you call us to, and there is deafness in our ears, and there is a barrier between us and you – therefore mind your own business, we are minding ours.” 5 Say thou: I am only a human being like unto you; only it is revealed unto me that your God is but One God, wherefore take the straight path unto Him and seek forgiveness of Him. And woe be unto the associators. 6 Who give not the poor-rate; and they! in the Hereafter, they are disbelievers. 7 [But,] verily, they who have attained to faith and do good works shall have a reward unending! 8
