He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 To him you give attention. 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And he fears, 9 You neglect. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 lofty and pure, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 And dense gardens, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
