And when the envoys came to the family of Lot, 61 he said: "Surely you are an unknown folk." 62 "We have come to you with news," they said, "of what your people doubt; 63 We bring you the truth, and indeed we are truthful. 64 “Therefore journey with your household while a portion of the night remains, and you tread behind them – and none of you may turn around and see, and proceed directly to the place you are commanded to.” 65 And [through Our messengers] We revealed unto him this decree: "The last remnant of those [sinners] shall be wiped out in the morn." 66 And the people of the city came [unto Lot,] rejoicing at the glad tiding. 67 Exclaimed [Lot]: "Behold, these are my guests: so put me not to shame, 68 Fear God and do not shame me." 69 They said: "Did we not forbid thee (to speak) for all and sundry?" 70 He said: 'Here are my daughters; take them (in marriage), if you would be doing' 71 By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly. 72 An explosion struck them at sunrise. 73 We turned the town upside-down and showered on them lumps of baked clay. 74 Indeed in this are signs for people who perceive. 75 And lo! it is upon a road still uneffaced. 76 Verily in that is a sign for the believers. 77 Certainly the dwellers in the Thicket were evildoers, 78 and We took vengeance on them. The two of them were upon a roadway manifest. 79
