Stories (Al-Qasas)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ta Sin Mim. 1 These are Verses of the manifest Book (that makes clear truth from falsehood, good from evil, etc.). 2 We narrate unto thee (somewhat) of the story of Moses and Pharaoh with truth, for folk who believe. 3 Indeed, Pharaoh exalted himself in the land and made its people into factions, oppressing a sector among them, slaughtering their [newborn] sons and keeping their females alive. Indeed, he was of the corrupters. 4 We wished to favour those who were weak in the land and make them leaders and heirs, 5 give them power in the land and make the Pharaoh, Haman (his Minister), and their armies to experience from their victims what they feared most. 6 So We conveyed to the mother of Moses: "Suckle him. If you are afraid for him, cast him in the river without any fear or regret, for We shall restore him to you, and make him an apostle." 7 Then the household of Fir'aun (Pharaoh) picked him up, that he might become for them an enemy and a (cause of) grief. Verily! Fir'aun (Pharaoh), Haman and their hosts were sinners. 8 Said Pharaoh's wife, 'He will be a comfort to me and thee. Slay him not; perchance he will profit us, or we will take him for a son.' And they were not aware. 9 But there came to be a void in the heart of the mother of Moses: She was going almost to disclose his (case), had We not strengthened her heart (with faith), so that she might remain a (firm) believer. 10 And she said to his sister, "Follow him"; so she watched him from a distance while they perceived not. 11 ۞ And We had already forbidden (other) foster suckling mothers for him, until she (his sister came up and) said: "Shall I direct you to a household who will rear him for you, and sincerely they will look after him in a good manner?" 12 Thus did We return Moses to his mother that We would delight her eyes, relieve her sorrows, and let her know that the promise of God was true, but many people do not know. 13
