Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 And the Book written 2 On a parchment scroll unrolled, 3 Consider the long-enduring house [of worship]! 4 And the lofty roof. 5 Consider the surf-swollen sea! 6 the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place 7 there is none to avert it. 8 Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains will move with a visible movement. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to those who give the lie (to this Message) 11 That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles. 12 on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. 13 “This is the Hell which you used to give the lie to.” 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' 16 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss 17 rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. 18 "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do." 19 They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. 20 And as for those who have attained to faith and whose offspring will have followed them in faith, We shall unite them with their offspring; and We shall not let aught of their deeds go to waste: [but] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 We shall give them fruits and meat as they desire. 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 Saying: "We were also once full of fear at home. 26 and God was gracious to us, and guarded us against the chastisement of the burning wind; 27 “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” 28
