Nay, verily: By the Moon, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 surely (Hell) is one of the greatest Signs, 35 A warning for people -- 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 except the people of the right hand 39 In Gardens they will question 40 concerning the sinners, 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They will answer: We were not of those who prayed 43 Nor did we used to feed the poor. 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 So, the intercession of intercessors will not avail them. 48 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills; He (Allah) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilah (God) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins). 56
