The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 Nay, if he desist not, We shall most surely drag him down upon his forehead 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
