The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the setting star, 1 Your comrade erreth not, nor is deceived; 2 Nor doth he speak of (his own) desire. 3 Indeed it is not except a Revelation which is revealed, 4 something that a very mighty one has imparted to him: 5 One vigorous; and he grew clear to view 6 while he was in the highest horizon; 7 and then drew near, and came close, 8 So he was the measure of two bows or closer still. 9 So did (Allah) convey the inspiration to His Servant- (conveyed) what He (meant) to convey. 10 The heart was not untrue in (making him see) what he saw. 11 Will you then argue with him about what he saw? 12 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) during his other ascent 13 Near the Lote-tree beyond which none may pass: 14 near which is Paradise. 15 When there comes to the Lote Tree, that which comes 16 The sight did not shift, nor did it cross the limits. 17 He certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you then considered the Lat and the Uzza, 19 And Manat the other third? 20 Shall you have the male issues, and He the female issues? 21 This is certainly an unjust apportioning. 22 They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath revealed no warrant. They follow but a guess and that which (they) themselves desire. And now the guidance from their Lord hath come unto them. 23 Shall man have whatever he craves? 24 Nay! for Allah is the hereafter and the former (life). 25

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
