The people of Lut belied the sent ones. 160 When their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear God? 161 I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 162 so fear you God, and obey you me. 163 I ask of you no recompense for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 164 "Of all the creatures in the world, will ye approach males, 165 And leave what your Lord has created for you of your wives? Nay, you are a people exceeding limits. 166 They said, "If you do not desist, Lot, you will surely be banished." 167 He said: Surely I am of those who utterly abhor your doing; 168 My Lord! deliver me and my household from that which they work. 169 So We saved him and his family, all, 170 Save an old woman among those who stayed behind. 171 Then We destroyed the rest of them, 172 And rained on them a shower (of Stones). How terrible was the rain (that fell) on those who had been warned! 173 Verily in this was a sign, but most of them do not believe. 174 And lo! thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
