The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness those who stand arrayed in rows, 1 And those who restrain by reprimanding, 2 Then those who recite, being mindful, 3 Indeed, your God is One, 4 Lord of the heavens and the earth and everything between them; Lord of the Easts. 5 We have adorned the lower heaven with the adornment of the planets, 6 And to guard against every rebellious devil. 7 [So] they may not listen to the exalted assembly [of angels] and are pelted from every side, 8 rejected, and theirs is an everlasting chastisement, 9 Except him who snatches off but once, then there follows him a brightly shining flame. 10 Then inquire of them, [O Muhammad], "Are they a stronger [or more difficult] creation or those [others] We have created?" Indeed, We created men from sticky clay. 11 Nay, but whereas thou dost marvel, they [only] scoff; 12 And when they are warned they pay no heed. 13 And when they see a sign, they ridicule 14 And say, "This is not but obvious magic. 15 What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up? 16 And our fathers too?" 17 Say thou: and verily ye; shall then be despicable. 18 Then it will be a single (compelling) cry; and behold, they will begin to see! 19 They will say: "Woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense!" 20 This is the day of the judgment which you called a lie. 21
