Hizb 46
< random >
AND, BEHOLD, Jonah was indeed one of Our message-bearers 139 When he fled on the laden ship, 140 And lots were cast (when a storm overtook them), he was rejected, (and thrown overboard). 141 Then a (big) fish swallowed him and he had done an act worthy of blame. 142 Now had he not been of those that glorify God, 143 he would have tarried in its belly until the day they shall be raised; 144 ۞ But We threw him on a wide bare tract of land while he was ill; 145 and We caused a gourd tree to grow over him. 146 And We sent him to a hundred thousand (folk) or more 147 And they believed, whrefore We let them enjoy life for a season. 148 Now ask them their opinion: Is it that thy Lord has (only) daughters, and they have sons?- 149 Or that have We created the angels as females, while they were present? 150 It is only because of their false invention that they say, 151 God hath begotten. Verily they are the liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What ails you that you judge in such a wise? 154 “So do you not ponder?” 155 Or do you have a clear authority? 156 Bring your Book, if what you say is true! 157 They have established a kinship between Allah and the angels; and the angels know well that these people will be arraigned (as culprits). 158 limitless is God in His glory, above anything that men may devise by way of definition! 159 but not so the true servants of God, 160 for, verily, neither you [blasphemers] nor the objects of your worship 161 Not against Him can you cause (any) to fall into trial, 162 Save him who will go to hell. 163 (Those ranged in ranks say): "Not one of us but has a place appointed; 164 "And we are verily ranged in ranks (for service); 165 And we are those who sing hallelujas to Him." 166 And they surely were wont to say: 167 "If we had had with us a Book like that of the people of old, 168 Surely we would have been the bondmen of God sincere. 169 They therefore denied it, so they will soon come to know. 170 We decreed that Our Messenger servants 171 that they shall receive Our help 172 and that it is Our host that would certainly triumph. 173 (Muhammad), stay away from them for a while 174 and watch them. They, too, will watch. 175 Do they seek to hasten on Our Torment? 176 But when it descends into the open space before them, evil will be the morning for those who were warned (and heeded not)! 177 So turn thou away from them for a little while, 178 And watch, for they will (soon) see. 179 Exalted be your Lord, the Lord of Glory, above what they attribute to Him, 180 And Peace on the messengers! 181 and praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being. 182
True are the words of God the Almighty.
