Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha'. Mim. 1 By the clear Book, 2 Indeed, We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that you might understand. 3 And indeed it is, in the Mother of the Book with Us, exalted and full of wisdom. 4 Should We divert this Good Counsel from you because you are a people immersed in extravagance? 5 And how many a prophet have We sent among the ancients. 6 And whenever any Prophet came to them, they only mocked at him. 7 Then We destroyed men mightier than these in prowess; and the example of the men of old hath gone (before them). 8 And if thou askest them: who hath created the heavens and the earth? they will surely say: created them the Mighty, the Knower. 9 He who appointed the earth to be a cradle for you, and appointed ways for you therein, that haply you may be guided; 10 Who sent down water in due measure from the sky, then quickened a region that was dead -- So shall We bring you forth -- 11 And Who has created all the pairs and has appointed for you ships and cattle on which you ride, 12 so that you may sit firmly on their backs. Then once you have mounted them, remember your Lord's favour and say, "Glory be to Him who has subjected these creatures to us; we would never on our own have subdued them. 13 surely unto our Lord we are turning.' 14 And they allot to Him a portion of His bondmen! Lo! man is verily a mere ingrate. 15
