The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 on lavish couches 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 like hidden pearls, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and spreading shade 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 and upraised couches. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And have made them virgins. 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
