And when the envoys came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: "Ye appear to be uncommon folk." 62 They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing, 63 "And we have brought to you the truth (the news of the destruction of your nation) and certainly, we tell the truth. 64 So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded. 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the root of those (sinners) was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 And the people of the city came [unto Lot,] rejoicing at the glad tiding. 67 and he told them, "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 "And fear Allah and disgrace me not." 69 They replied, "Did we not forbid you to bring anyone to your house?" 70 He said, 'These are my daughters, if you would be doing.' 71 By your life, they wandered on in their wild intoxication 72 But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning, 73 We laid it (the city) upside down and rained stones of baked clay upon them. 74 Surely! In this are signs, for those who see (or understand or learn the lessons from the Signs of Allah). 75 And surely it is on a road that still abides. 76 Indeed there is a portent in this for those who believe. 77 The dwellers of the Thicket were harmdoers. 78 So we took vengeance on them; and lo! they both are on a high-road plain to see. 79
