Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
We sent Noah to his people (and directed him): “Warn your people before a grievous chastisement comes upon them.” 1 He said: 'My nation, I am a clear warner for you. 2 that you should worship God [alone] and be conscious of Him. Pay heed to me. 3 He will forgive your sins and will grant you respite until an appointed term. Indeed when Allah's appointed term comes, it cannot be deferred; if you only knew!” 4 He said: O my Lord! surely I have called my people by night and by day! 5 but my calling has only increased them in flight. 6 "And every time I have called to them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they have (only) thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance. 7 Then surely I called to them aloud: 8 and spoke to them in public and in private." 9 Then I said, "Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Surely He is the most forgiving. 10 He will shower upon you heavenly blessings abundant, 11 rain from the sky, 12 "'What is the matter with you, that ye place not your hope for kindness and long-suffering in Allah,- 13 And indeed He has created you through various grades: 14 See ye not how Allah hath created seven heavens in harmony, 15 and placed therein the moon as a light and the sun as a torch. 16 God produced you from the earth like a vegetable growth; 17 He will make you return to it and then take you out of it again. 18 Allah has made the earth spread out for you 19 That you may go along therein in wide paths. 20
