The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to those that deal in fraud,- 1 Those who, when they take by measure from mankind, exact the full, 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 (To be raised) for a Great Day? 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!" 13 By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 (It is) a marked Book, 20 To which bear witness those nearest (to Allah, i.e. the angels). 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A spring from which those near [to Allah] drink. 28 BEHOLD, those who have abandoned themselves to sin are wont to laugh at such as have attained to faith 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 And when they saw them, they said: "They have indeed gone astray." 32 And withal, they have no call to watch over [the beliefs of] others... 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 Will not the disbelievers then be duly recompensed for their laughing at the believers? 36
