The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
