A group of his people who disbelieved him and had called the Day of Judgment a lie and whom We had made prosperous in this life, said, "He is a mere mortal like you. He eats and drinks as you do. 33 "If you were to obey a human being like yourselves, then verily! You indeed would be losers. 34 What, does he promise you that when you are dead, and become dust and bones, you shall be brought forth? 35 ۞ How far, how far, is that which you are promised. 36 "There is nothing but our life in this world! We shall die and we live! But we shall never be raised up again! 37 He is nothing but a man who has forged against Allah a lie, we will never believe him' 38 (The apostle prayed): "O Lord, deliver me, for they accuse me of lies." 39 (Allah) said: "In but a little while, they are sure to be sorry!" 40 Then the Blast overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead leaves (floating on the stream of Time)! So away with the people who do wrong! 41 Then after them, We created other generations. 42 No nation will precede its time [of termination], nor will they remain [thereafter]. 43 And We sent forth Our apostles, one after another: [and] every time their apostle came to a community, they gave him the lie: and so We caused them to follow one another [into the grave,] and let them become [mere] tales: and so - away with the folk who would not believe! 44 Thereafter We sent Musa and his brother Harun with Our signs and an authority manifest. 45 unto Pharaoh and his great ones; but these behaved with arrogance, for they were people wont to glorify [only] themselves. 46 They said: "Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves when their people are slaves to us?" 47 So they denied them, and became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book that people might be guided by it. 49 And We made the son of Marium and his mother a sign, and We gave them a shelter on a lofty ground having meadows and springs. 50
