He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 You neglect. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 exalted, purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 his mother and his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
