The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. 2 And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 on a fateful Day. 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner. 12 [and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say: "Fables of ancient times!" 13 By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 It will then be said, “This is what you used to deny.” 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 A Register inscribed. 20 which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 With a sealing of musk, which those who aspire for the best should desire, -- 26 for it is composed of all that is most exalting 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 when they passed by them they winked, 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 though they were not sent to be their keepers -- 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? 36
