The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
