A large group from the earlier generations. 39 and a good many of later times. 40 And those on the left hand: What of those on the left hand? 41 They will find themselves in scorching wind and scalding water, 42 in the shadow of a smoking blaze, 43 (That shadow) neither cool, nor (even) good, 44 Indeed they were, before that, indulging in affluence, 45 and persisted in heinous sins. 46 And they were wont to say: when we have died and become dust and bones, shall we, then, verily be raised? 47 We and our fathers of old? 48 Say (O Muhammad SAW): "(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times. 49 will indeed be gathered together at an appointed time on a Day known [only to God]: 50 Then lo! ye, the erring, the deniers, 51 "Ye will surely taste of the Tree of Zaqqum. 52 And filling with it your bellies 53 and on top of this you will drink boiling water 54 drink it as the most insatiably thirsty camels drink!" 55 That will be their entertainment on the Day of Recompense! 56 We have created you: why then do you not accept the truth? 57 Have you thought about what (sperm) you ejaculate? 58 Do you create a child out of it, or are We its creators? 59 It is We Who have ordained death among you, and We have not been beaten – 60 Had We so wished, nothing could have hindered Us from replacing you by others like yourselves, or transforming you into beings you know nothing about. 61 You are well aware of the first creation; then, do you learn no lesson from it? 62 Have you thought about what crops you plant? 63 Cause it ye to grow, or are We the Grower? 64 If We so pleased, We could turn your harvest into chaff. Then you would start lamenting, 65 Verily we are undone. 66 Rather, we have been deprived." 67 Tell Me! The water that you drink. 68 Do you send it down from the clouds, or We send it down? 69 If We willed, We verily could make it salt (and undrinkable), why then do you not give thanks (to Allah)? 70 Have you ever considered the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it ye who grow the tree which feeds the fire, or do We grow it? 72 We have made it to be a reminder and a benefit for the wayfarers. 73 Therefor (O Muhammad), praise the name of thy Lord, the Tremendous. 74
